Today, celebrating the 29th edition of Kids Day, thousands of volunteers in the Valley invaded the streets and corners of their communities. The goal was to raise $550,000 for Valley Children’s Hospital selling Kids Day news papers.
Nu Alpha Kappa at Fresno State, like every year, took part of the effort in raising money to reach that goal.
Members of Nu Alpha Kappa settled camp in the corners of Shaw and Fresno streets since 11 p.m. the night before ready to sell newspapers the following morning.
Many motorists stopped and donated more than the usual $1. It ranged anywhere from $1 to $20. There were even people who would buy a second paper at our corner having bought already a copy from someone else. That’s how much people were willing to support the cause.
The Red Army held up signs with “Donate” “Kids Day” and “NAK is for the Kids” to get the people’s attention and it worked very well.
They sold out all the newspapers before 7:15 a.m.. Showing how much work they really put into it and the dedication they had to sell!
Awesome job NAKos!
